Just two days to go until young electrical apprentice Luke Wigley sets off with family member Spencer to cycle from coast to coast across Devon raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity.
They recently lost their uncle, Ron Palin, to a brain tumour and are taking extraordinary measures to give something back. Please give generously and help them to achieve their goal.
They take a winding route, up hill and down dale (lots of them!), from the harbour in Ilfracombe on the North coast, taking in Barnstaple, Okehampton and skirting Dartmoor and Tavistock. All being well they will finally finish at the ferry terminal in Plymouth on Sunday.
They’re not professional cyclists by any means so it’s certain to be quite a challenge. Here he is, looking slightly glum though it has to be said, probably at the thought of all the hills ahead. We’re pretty sure he’ll be grinning from ear to ear afterwards!
The map of the route is sold commercially so we’re unable to reproduce it here but you can read more about it at the link below..
You can’t have missed recently the tragic events in London at Grenfell Tower. News agencies are reporting that the fire originated from a fridge freezer manufactured by Hotpoint. Investigations are still ongoing as to the exact cause but a statement has been issued by Whirlpool, the parent company of Hotpoint.
The fridge freezer models involved are Hotpoint FF175BP (White) and Hotpoint FF175BG (Graphite) manufactured between March 2006 and July 2009 (Pictured).
“We have just been informed that the fire may have originated at or near a Hotpoint fridge freezer. We are working with the authorities to obtain access to the appliance. Under these circumstances, we are unable to speculate on further details at this time. We are addressing this as a matter of utmost urgency and assisting the authorities in any way we can. We will provide additional updates as our investigations progress.”
Whirlpool advise anybody owning one of these fridge freezers to call the Hotpoint freephone hotline on 0800 316 3826 or to visit http://hotpointservice.co.uk/fridgefreezer so that they can register your details and contact you if there are further updates.
