We know that digital TV distribution can be intimidating and a technical minefield, with Copper IRS, Fibre IRS, SMATV, IPTV or Single Cable Solutions, it can seem like buzzword bingo.

At Chapmans Electrical we have a wealth of experience to ensure the service we provide is right for you. We work with local authorities, housing associations, care homes, managing agents and landlords to provide cost effective, high quality services and systems which are both a perfect fit and within budget.

Some of the terminology briefly explained:

IRS stands for Integrated Reception System. This is a communal aerial and satellite distribution system which enables the use of a single aerial and satellite dish installation to distribute Freeview TV, Freesat and DAB and FM radio to any number of homes.

IRS systems vary in the transmission medium which can be copper coaxial, or fibre optic cabling. Copper IRS is largely superseded by Fibre (FIRS) systems now due to the increased demands on the systems, complexity and distance of signals being distributed, and the increased flexibility for property owners and residents for which it provides.

SMATV is a system often used in hotels, hospitals, care homes or even prisons. TV and radio signals are received by a master antenna system, which can include aerial and satellite reception, and passed through a smart control unit, and on into any number of rooms. The smart control unit separates the signals and gives managers complete control over which services and channels are made available to which rooms. SMATV stands for Smart Master Antenna Television.

IPTV is Internet Protocol Television and is a method of controllably streaming TV signals over a network to a TV display or a whole network of TVs and equipment.

A Single Cable Solution (SCS) enables property owners with a single cable satellite TV installation to give residents complete access to services which typically require dual cables, without needing to add any extra cabling or satellite dishes and needs no new planning permission.

Call on the professionals for all your communal aerial and satellite needs and arrange for a Chapmans engineer to come to you.

What our Customers have to say:

Just had new electric heating installed throughout the house. Really impressed with the professionalism of the team, from the girls on the switchboard, Mark who came to do the survey and prepare the quote, through to Chris and his electricians. Any mess made was cleared up immediately and all the packaging and old equipment removed. Highly impressed from start to finish!
