Chapman’s Electrical is seeking to recruit an Apprentice Service Engineer to work across our all of our Service Departments including gaining experience in “White” Goods (Catering and Laundry appliances), “Brown” Goods (Television and Audio Products) and Aerial and Satellite Installation and Servicing.
This is an ideal opportunity for a good team worker who is self motivated and seeking a practical career in a highly technical industry. The successful candidate will have an interest in technology as well as being confident and personable to be able to deliver excellent customer service. The role involves some heavy or bulky lifting and, as it is a field based role, longer term there is an expectation that the post holder would gain a driving licence (although a driving licence is not a requirement at this stage). An understanding of electronics and / or experience of dealing with the public are an advantage.
Our company delivers a broad range of service activities including the delivery, installation, service and repair of a wide range of “brown” audio-visual products and “white” kitchen / laundry appliances – working for various customers from domestic homes through to large insurance companies. We also install and set up “Smart Home” technologies and deliver Aerial and Satellite system designs from single domestic properties to large systems supplying hundreds of houses from a single satellite dish.
Apprentices work as part of a crew gaining first hand experience of the job but also undertake day release, most likely to BMet James Watt campus, to achieve a recognised industry qualification, at least to Level 2.
In order to meet college requirements for this Apprenticeship, applicants should have achieved, or expect to achieve, grade C GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, Science and English. Lower grades may be accepted at the college’s discretion.
Terms & Conditions:
Hours – 40 per week – including day release. Monday to Friday.
Wage – NMW Apprenticeship Rate (currently £3.40 per hour).
Holiday – 22 days plus statutory holidays.
