Home Electrical Testing
At Chapmans Electrical we truly understand electricity and electrical safety. We’ve been providing reliable electrical services since 1925, that is 90 years in the industry. One of the services we offer is electrical safety testing, in it’s many forms.
If you are looking for electrical safety testing and certificates, fault finding, electrical inspections and reports, electrical commissioning, portable appliance testing – PAT testing or any other home electrical testing or certification please call Chapmans Electrical and find out what we can do for you.
Our reach extends far beyond our home town of Cradley Heath, in the Black Country. Our service area extends to most areas around Birmingham and the West Midlands including Halesowen, Brierley Hill, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Stourbridge, Shrewsbury, Worcester, Sutton Coldfield and Solihull to name but a few. If in doubt, just give us a ring.
Chapmans is an NICEIC registered contractor and an ECA member. Our electrical engineers and technicians are fully trained to the latest BS 7671 IEE regulations, currently 17th edition.
As you can see, we take electrical safety seriously and our engineers and technicians are trained to the highest standards. The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) is a body which regulates the training and work of electrical contractors, itself part of Electrical Safety First (formerly The Electrical Safety Council). Representing the best in electrical engineering and building services, the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) members undergo regular, rigorous technical assessments to ensure they carry out safe electrical work.
One of the electrical testing services we provide is PAT testing, portable appliance testing. PAT testing is a legal requirement for employers or the self employed to ensure the safety of any electrical portable appliance with regular testing and recording. It is also useful in the home, in a domestic environment, especially where the safety of an electrical appliance is unknown or where you’ve bought something second hand. Don’t just switch it on and hope for the best, call Chapmans and get it tested!
We also perform thorough electrical safety checks and safety certification on the internal fixed wiring in your property including certificates for new domestic installations and electrical inspection condition reports (EICR) which are recommended to be carried out at least every 10 years in the home. If you’re a landlord, homes should be tested every 5 years or on change of tenancy. In case you’re wondering what happened to periodic inspection reports (PIR), in 2012 these were replaced with the new electrical inspection condition reports (EICR).
Each fitting is first visually inspected for damage and signs of wear e.g. sockets, light switches, light fittings etc. Each circuit then undergoes a series of tests to ensure the wiring is safe and that the circuit is wired correctly.
Call Chapmans today and experience the difference.
