50 Years as an NICEIC Approved Contractor

Celebrating 50 Years as an NICEIC Approved Contractor

This week we are celebrating!

Most people are familiar with the NICEIC, maybe without even realising it. It is the body who works to ensure that electrical contractors carry out electrical work safely and to a high and consistent standard.

It was formed some 60 years ago now, at a time when there was a lack of any uniformity governing standards of workmanship and electrical safety. As part of their ongoing anniversary celebrations they are reaching out in recognition of some of their longest registered members.

We are very pleased to rank among them. Chapmans marks a significant milestone too with 50 years as an NICEIC approved electrical contractor!

Chapmans was first established way back in 1925 by a young Mr. Ewart Chapman. An electrical contractor from the outset at a time when electricity was starting to become quite widely used in industry and starting to enter the home. A few years later he opened a small shop, stocking radios and accumulators – the original type of battery – and various other electrical accoutrements.

It’s a vastly different world we live in today. An exciting one where technology advances almost daily. Chapmans has changed along with it and grown, but it remains a family run business to this day.

It’s this long heritage which instils us with an uncommon focus on service, safety and high standards of workmanship, so we’re very proud to join NICEIC in their celebrations. Look out for the certificate next time you’re in!

Could you be overloading your sockets?

Each electrical socket is rated to supply a maximum of 13 amps. What does that mean, in real world terms? Is it possible you are overloading your sockets?

Without understanding the do’s and dont’s it’s entirely possible that you are, without even realising it!

Use the handy socket calculator below to help you and give us a call on 01384 566497 if you need some advice or think you could benefit from a safe, registered and experienced electrician installing some extra sockets in your home or business.

From sockets or RCDs to complete rewires, from one home to a whole housing development. Chapmans have been electrical contractors¬†in Birmingham and the Black Country since 1925 so you know it’s a name you can trust. Now serving the whole of the West Midlands.

The Socket Calculator has been brought to you by Electrical Safety First.
