If you have a tumble dryer branded Hotpoint, Indesit or Creda, it may require a preventative fix. Affected models range from 2004 to current ones so do please check. There is a dedicated website where you can do so.. http://safety.hotpoint.eu/
This is a safety issue. If you do have one of the affected models please follow the process through to arrange for one of their engineers to visit and correct it for you – which they estimate should take around an hour to complete.
Quoting from their website:
Following Whirlpool’s acquisition of the Hotpoint/Indesit brands, Indesit Company has closely reviewed the safety of its product portfolio.
As part of this review we have identified a potential concern with two types of tumble dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015. In some rare cases, excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element and present a risk of fire.
Their current advice is to still allow use of the dryer, but not to leave them unattended, and to ensure that cleaning and maintenance is carried out as per the instructions.
