How do you know whether you need a rewire? If you have old wiring which has been damaged or has become brittle, or your sockets sometimes get hot to the touch, it’s best to get it checked out, we’ll be able to advise you then. If your wiring is still aluminium or even cloth covered or is getting hot anywhere then it’s probably time for a rewire. If you’re changing or upgrading your consumer unit, fuse board or fuse box to something more modern with MCB’s and an RCD for safety or because you need a bigger one for new showers, garages, lighting, conservatories or extensions then you might also consider rewiring.
